IDEAS
As a marketer I've been lucky enough to help uncover opportunities and grow ideas for iconic brands like Jack Daniel's, Reebok, Frito-Lay and Virgin. I also enjoy experimenting with related personal projects like AdBakery, Take Your Customer To Work Day, and HerNature HisNurture:
ADBAKERY.COM is an idea I'm proud to have acted on. If you've ever thought you had a great ad concept, check it out.
AdBakery is a social network that lets anyone showcase his/her unsolicited ad ideas. Users set-up a portfolio page, put their 'brand-new' ideas on display and get feedback from peers.
They can upload video, images and audio files to support their already “baked” concepts.
The target isn’t specifically consumers, amateur producers or pros. It’s anyone with an idea in need of a creative platform, or an attentive audience. The hope is that AdBakery becomes an
on-line hub for unsolicited ideas and supports a diverse community of marketing-savvy creative types.
TAKE YOUR CUSTOMER TO WORK DAY is an idea I had to promote transparency and trust across business. I'm carrying out the inaugural event May 28th, 2009, with several respsonsible organizations on board to partake.
Take Your Customer to Work Day is a day I when organizations open up their doors and invite customers into the workplace to meet employees and better understand how their business works
Why Should my business participate?
Transparency builds trust. Trust is at an all-time premium given today’s economy. This initiative demonstrates the respect your company has for your customers. It offers them the opportunity to get to know your business a little better, and in the process lets you get to know your customers a little better. It makes your business more human, and your people more real.
HER NATURE HIS NURTURE
Allie and I started a blog project in June 2008. The Idea for it plays on our contrasting careers in Nature (Allie in genetics) and Nurture (me in marketing). Here's a collection of some of my more coherent thoughts from the blog:
1) People, Brand, Size and Story
Topics I seem to keep coming back to.
Some idealistic thiking about the future of marketing agencies. And a follow-up post on a PR agency that's acting on the idea.
A collection of proof on the budding relationship between these historically rivaled cultures.
4) 7 Reasons for Using Indie Music In Commecials
An exploration of why companies are using underground artists/ songs to support their ads.
"Isn’t it funny how brands try to be people, and people try to be brands?"
A look at gender and the changing work force, based on Dan Pink's awesome book A Whole New Mind.
